Our Story

How a Boulder Kid Brought New York Pizza to Colorado

In 1977, a University of Colorado student named Steve Abo took a trip to New York and landed an internship at Rocky Graziano's pizzeria — a place connected to the legendary middleweight boxing champion and the Genovese family. He came back to Boulder with a sauce recipe, a method, and a plan.

The first Abo's opened on The Hill. The sauce has never changed. Neither has the obsession with getting it right.

"The sauce is a proprietary blend fashioned after the legendary Rocky Graziano family recipe."
